Domaine Delmas (Languedoc-Roussillon)
Domaine Delmas began as a 3-hectare estate 3 generations ago with Omar Delmas, the grandfather of Bernard Delmas, the current proprietor and winemaker. Bernard took over the estate 30 years ago and has transformed the estate into a 30-hectare estate with a new, state-of-the-art, modern winery.
Delmas is located in the appellation of Limoux and in the small, cozy village of Antugnac. Limoux, of course, is famous for its sparkling Blanquette de Limoux and Cremant de Limoux, a region that has been making sparkling wine since 1531. The estate produces both Blanquette and Cremant, employing the traditional method (Methode Champenoise.)
Bernard Delmas is a 'true vigneron,' something that is rare to see in Limoux, as a large percentage of the wine made there is made at the cooperative and simply given a fancy label to suggest that it is domaine-bottled. In 1986, Domaine Delmas was certified organic, the first winery in all of the Languedoc-Roussillon to be certified.
The sparkling wine produced at Delmas is incredibly high-quality and value-priced. We're extremely fortunate to be able to represent this fantastic estate and a true vigneron, Bernard Delmas!
